Ms. Jackson, Gifted & Accelerated Pathway Teacher

Accelerated Pathway classes are available to 1st through 8th grade scholars. The goal is to address a national problem of AP scholars being underserved.

Scholars identified as performing at a "Distinguished" or "Proficient"level are provided additional opportunities for enrichment. The goal is to feed and nurture growing curiosity while fostering a love of learning.

Investing in Tomorrow

At Centennial Academy, our Gifted and Talented program goes beyond the classroom! Scholars are currently engaged in the dynamic Stock Market Game, a simulation that challenges them to manage and grow a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio.

This immersive experience teaches students crucial concepts like:

  • How the stock market works
  • Principles of smart investing
  • In-depth research and analysis
  • Risk assessment and strategy development

Through this exciting competition, our scholars are not just learning financial literacy; they're developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. Watch out, Wall Street!

Scholar-led Project: Monarch Waystation Development

Accelerated Pathways and Gifted scholars created a Monarch Waystation, a garden specifically designed to support monarch butterflies, whose populations are declining. The concept developed from learning about the migration of Monarchs through South America in Spanish class. The waystation is filled with native plants, including milkweed and nectar flowers, which are essential for the monarchs' survival. This project serves as a hands-on learning opportunity for students, allowing them to study ecosystems and become environmental stewards. The waystation is also integrated into various science classes, where students can observe the butterfly lifecycle and learn about plant-pollinator relationships. The school received a grant from Georgia Natural Gas to support the project.
