As a community school, Centennial Academy readily extends beyond our campus borders to partner with institutions of early and higher learning. We value how these innovative partnerships across industry and social services enhance scholar learning and development.
Here are just a few of the businesses and organizations we are grateful to partner with and alongside:
Also located on Luckie Street, Centennial Academy and the Arthur M. Blank Family Youth YMCA not only share an address, but also a vision for revitalizing a community. Our partnership dates back to 2014, when Centennial Academy was first envisioned as a new and improved educational experience.
Today, Centennial's scholars participate in youth fitness at the Y throughout the school day. Aftercare support is offered for scholars, and the Y's leadership are key partner's in Centennial's Consortium for School Readiness. Together, we work to ensure our scholars receive exceptional academic, health, and wellness support.
Georgia Aquarium has also support our scholars since our 2014 inception. Our partnership is key to infusing a STEAM-centered experiences in new and unique ways.
As a result of the partnership, we now have shared onsite space for our Gifted Program classes, scholarships to participate in Camp H20 during summer months, and opportunities for scholars and their families to experience the wonder of Georgia Aquarium throughout the school year.
Centennial Academy has a long-standing, close partnership with the university. Two of our educators were recently chosen to participate in the GoSTEAM@Tech Program, where they received 120 hours of STEAM training over the summer to then share with their colleagues.
A Georgia Tech STEAM coach also provides support to Centennial educators throughout the school year, and we were honored to be recognized as their CEISMC Premier Partner School for the 2019-2020 school year. Finally, our educators receive intensive professional development support from Georgia Tech professors, particularly in STEM-related fields.
The Rollins Center for Language and Literacy at the Atlanta Speech School recognizes Centennial as an Every Opportunity Founding School. This ensures our school is a place where no child is silenced, connections are valued over compliance, and research-based best practices are applied in order to shape children for a lifetime of possibilities.
The Rollins Center regularly supports Centennial Academy through dedicated professional development to improve language and literacy skills in our scholars. This happens during the school year and over the summer through our Summer Bridge Program, which provides intensive summer learning support to children in K-2 grades.
Our partnership with Georgia Natural Gas continues to support a STEAM-centered education. They sponsor scholar participation in the annual Atlanta Science Festival, as well as provide opportunities for scholars to showcase their academic talents on 11 Alive, an Atlanta-based NBC affiliate.
This robust partnership also grants our scholars exposure to the arts through the Woodruff Arts Center, the largest arts educator in Georgia. Scholars engage in field trips, workshops, camps, and other opportunities in order to effectively bring art into the classroom.
Centennial is proud to additionally partner with the following organizations and businesses:
