Dear Centennial families,
First of all, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all of our scholars. Parents, thank you for your flexibility as we sift through a most challenging season; as second semester is upon us, we ask for your continued support as we navigate through uncharted territory of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is important that we update you on Centennial Academy's Mitigation Strategies:
→Mandatory Mask Mandate. Masks are required at Centennial Academy, and should be properly worn over the nose and mouth. Please note: surgical masks are preferred over cloth masks, due to decreased risk of exposure.
→Surveillance Testing. We will continue with 2x/week Covid-19 Surveillance Testing on Mondays and Thursdays. This cannot happen without your full support: parents, please provide consent if you haven't already.
→Limited Campus Visitation. We will continue to limit the number of visitors on Centennial's campus.
→Air Purifiers. We will continue the use of air purifiers in all classrooms and offices throughout the building.
→Off-Campus Field Trip Suspension. In order to keep our scholars and staff as safe as possible, we will continue to suspend all off-campus field trips.
→Virtual Academy & Cyber Academy Days. We will continue with Centennial's Virtual Academy for Quarter III, as well as Asynchronous Fridays (or Cyber Academy Days) for all.
Additionally, new APS Quarantine/Isolation Guidance called the Test to Stay Protocol will be followed at Centennial:
What is test-to-stay, you ask? When a positive case is identified at school, scholars who have been in close contact with that individual will be notified and evaluated for symptoms. If the close contact has consented to surveillance testing, they will have the opportunity to remain in school as long as they continue to test negative throughout the 10 days after their exposure, and remain without symptoms. Individuals who test positive or develop symptoms will be sent home to isolate.
This option requires parental consent for student testing, but also provides the opportunity for scholars to participate in modified quarantine guidelines. Those who do note consent to testing must quarantine at home for the recommended 10 days. (Parents, please provide consent if you haven't already).
Test-to-stay protocols will provide additional and more immediate data for decision-making purposes, and will give families an alternative to keep their students in school.
Two last notes, which were also emphasized above:
→We beat this deadly virus by protecting ourselves, our loved ones and the greater community by getting vaccinated. Please, register today.
→Mark your calendars now for Parent University: Covid-19 Guidelines & Mitigation Strategies at Centennial, which will be next Wednesday, January 12th at 6:30 pm.
Centennial, we are in this together. We are Heroes together, doing the right thing for the good of these young, bright scholars among us.
